ASPI at EAG London 2025: Learning &

From June 6–8, 2025, Across Species Project Indonesia (ASPI) attended the Effective Altruism Global conference in London. Bringing together thousands of attendees from diverse backgrounds and cause areas, the conference offered valuable experiences and insights through 1:1 meetings, group discussions, talks, and workshops.

A key part of the conference culture was initiating or accepting invitations for 1:1 or group conversations. These sessions proved to be among the most valuable aspects of the event. While the talks and workshops covered compelling topics such as AI safety, insect farming, global health, and more, the 1:1 and group discussions stood out for their depth and significance. They allowed us to engage directly with others who have been in the movement longer, as well as with people from different cause areas—offering us fresh perspectives that are often essential for improving our own initiative.

These interactions, along with the sessions we attended at the conference, not only sharpened our thinking around strategy and planning but also introduced us to new knowledge about farmed animal issues. We were especially encouraged to learn that more initiatives are emerging in the Global South to improve the welfare of farmed animals.

While learning from long-standing organizations helps deepen our understanding, connecting with newer initiatives—like ours—fuels our hope. It strengthens our commitment to reducing animal suffering and creating meaningful change—especially for farmed animals like laying ducks.
