On June 6\u20138, 2025, Across Species Project Indonesia (ASPI) attended the Effective Altruism Global conference in London, organized by the Centre for Effective Altruism. Bringing together thousands of participants from diverse backgrounds and cause areas, the conference offered valuable experiences and insights through talks, workshops, 1:1 meetings, and group discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the talks and workshops, various compelling topics were presented to deepen the understanding of the urgency of certain issues, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) safety, insect farming, global health, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond that, 1:1 meetings and group discussions were an integral and well-established part of the conference culture. These sessions provided valuable experiences through direct interactions with individuals from similar as well as different focus areas, enabling mutual learning and exchange of experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active participation in this event allowed ASPI to engage directly with people who have long been involved in farmed animal issues and gain valuable input on our ongoing initiatives. In addition, conversations with individuals from different cause areas provided us with fresh perspectives\u2014an essential element for helping our initiative grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These interactions, together with the sessions we attended at the conference, not only sharpened our thinking around strategy and planning but also introduced us to new knowledge about farmed animal issues. We were especially encouraged to learn that more initiatives like ASPI\u2014though focused on different species\u2014are emerging in the Global South to improve the welfare of farmed animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning from long-established organizations has helped deepen our understanding, but connecting with newer initiatives\u2014like ASPI\u2014has injected new energy into our work. This experience strengthened ASPI\u2019s commitment to reducing animal suffering and creating meaningful change\u2014especially for farmed animals like laying ducks.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
